The NSTA has published its 2026 Emissions Monitoring Report, which shows that production emissions from the UK's offshore oil and gas industry fell for a sixth consecutive year in 2025, as robust regulation and industry action on decarbonisation delivered impressive results.
Last year’s reductions contributed to an overall decrease in production emissions of 37% between 2018 and 2025. Gas flaring volumes fell by 60% over the same period.
The NSTA uses its annual Emissions Monitoring Reports to track industry’s progress towards net zero by 2050. They contain a wealth of data and insights on overall greenhouse gas emissions, emissions intensities, flaring and venting emissions, and international performance benchmarking.
The report is presented on a digital platform with embedded analytics tools, enabling interaction and improving the user experience.
