The Petroleum Act 1998 vests all rights to onshore petroleum in the Crown, including the rights to search, bore for and get it. It empowers the Authority to grant licences to search for and bore for and get petroleum to such persons as they see fit

These guidelines are provided to assist companies who wish to become a field operator of oil or gas fields on the UKCS

Companies who want to participate in the exploitation of the UK’s oil and gas resources need (among other things) a Production Licence from the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA). The OGA operates a competitive system for awarding Production Licences.

We expect relevant persons to collaborate and cooperate with their supply chain (those providing goods and services to the upstream oil and gas industry) to support the delivery of relevant activities (as defined in the OGA Strategy) on time and on budget.
