One of the key actions of the Wood Report was that Government and Industry should together create an up-to-date, readily accessible, digital perspective on the prospectivity and geology of the UKCS. 

The NSTA regulates the licensing of exploration and development of England’s onshore oil and gas resources, and it has strict controls in place to ensure that operators manage the risk of induced seismicity from such operations. 

The Field Development Plan (FDP) is the support document for the NSTA’s development and production authorisations and should provide a brief description of the technical information on which the development is based.

The NSTA’s wellbore registration numbering system is a simple code system that provides an unambiguous reference for use in correspondence, cross-referencing between computer databases, and in other information and filing systems.

On 1st November 2022, the NSTA retired the Cessation of Production (CoP) Process. Licensees will no longer be required to complete and submit a COP report. Should the NSTA wish to discuss any existing COP dates and movement of same, a stewardship meeting will be set up to discuss.
