The cost of oil and gas decommissioning for the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) has reduced from the 2017 baseline of £59.7bn

The total cost of decommissioning remaining UK offshore oil and gas production, transportation and processing infrastructure has reduced by 17%, on a like-for-like basis, to £49bn compared with a 2017 base-line estimate of £59.7bn

The total estimated cost of decommissioning UKCS upstream oil and gas infrastructure has fallen by a further £1.5bn to £44.5bn, representing an overall decrease of about £15bn (25%) since the baseline forecast and cost reduction target were introduced in 2017

This Emissions Monitoring Report, which will be updated annually, is part of the Authority'ss efforts to monitor, benchmark and hold the industry to account on its progress towards net zero.
